Chilies are generally considered to be of the species Capsicum Frutescence, but some beliefs it to be a member of the species Capsicum Annum. Red chilies are originated in Mexico and it spread across the world. Store it in an airtight jar in a cool and dry place, in order to retain the aroma. It will remain useful for a year in dry conditions. Avoid exposure to air and moisture. If color fades, it means the lot is getting old, so use up soon or discard.

This chili pepper is either used fresh, dried, wrinkled or grounded. It is used to give flavor and color to curries, vegetables, sauces, soups, and stews. It is also popular in marinades alongside chopped onions and tomatoes. Fried or dried chili is used to make hot sauce, a bottled condiment.
